The Challenge.
With the growth of Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) opportunities, student-athletes have an increasing ability to build brands that extend beyond their performance on the court or field.
For Michigan State basketball player Malik Hall, the opportunity was to develop a personal brand visual system that felt authentic to him while providing the versatility needed for apparel, partnerships and other NIL opportunities. Just as importantly, the identity needed to have relevance beyond his collegiate basketball career.
The Solution.
That Creative Guy developed Malik Hall's complete personal brand visual system around a clean, connected wordmark of his name. The identity was designed for versatility, allowing the primary wordmark to work across a variety of applications while Malik's initials became a secondary graphic element and repeatable brand pattern.
This expanded the identity beyond a single logo and created a visual system that could translate naturally across apparel, merchandise and other branded applications. The result was a personal identity built not only for Malik's opportunities as a student-athlete, but with the flexibility to grow with him into future partnerships, appearances, speaking engagements and professional opportunities.
